LAC Flying School and the University of Salford have created an “Introduction to Flight Training Course” that provides hands-on flying experience for students in the BEng (Hons) Aircraft Engineering with Pilot Studies degree.
The course gives students 10 hours of flight time logged towards a pilot’s license. LAC Flying School delivers the practical training at Barton Aerodrome in collaboration with the university, which also includes theoretical components and a visit to a maintenance facility.
The courseĀ covers basic PPL exercises with the potential for a first solo flight, along with a theoretical component. This gives students a practical introduction to flying, with flight hours contributing towards their pilot’s license.
The course is funded separately from academic tuition, allowing students to “fly as you go”.
